Highlight clipping
Also known as blown-out highlights, clipped highlights. Category: Lighting and optics
Highlight clipping occurs when parts of an image are so overexposed that they are recorded at the maximum value, pure white, losing all detail. On white-background product photos the background is intentionally white, but clipping on the product itself loses texture and shape.
How PhotoRobot uses it
Capture PI Advisor in PhotoRobot Controls checks captured images for highlight clipping in real time, along with exposure balance, shadow density and background cleanliness.
